Inspiring e-mails I've received : ) Thank you so much everyone for all of your unconditional support....
When all else fails, keep chugging! I am getting to know Alekz a little better through snippets of conversation I am lucky to have with him when we run into each other from time to time on the streets of Santa Cruz. The last time we were chatting, he spoke of how he came to be where he is now in his response to the needs of the planet. In his narration of his evolving understanding of evolving needs, I thought about how overwhelming this all is. We face, whether or not we like it, some gargantuan realities, yet Alekz still inspires possibility. He makes me ask more of myself. There is no time for less.

Hey Alekz! I just want you to know that I appreciate you so much for taking the time to help me and give me advice on creating solution to the world crises. My friend and I have teamed up to create a non profit organization that will help developing countries with sustainable projects that will not only support the people but will also benefit the environment. I just wanted to say thank you for all of your information, you're inspiring. : )

Hi, I'm Marianna. we talked briefly on the 71 bus this evening- you asked about my collage career and gave me your story to read. I just wanted to say thank you- for your sacrifice in helping others and for sharing it with the public. I've been considering mission work for the past couple months and your words gave me encouragement to look further into it. So thank you, and good luck with your future endeavors.

Hi Alekz- Let me tell you why I'm writing. I was outside Bookshop Santa Cruz this morning, sitting on the statue with the saw player and your piece titled "Aftermath of Super Typhoon Yolanda" was on the statue. I picked it up, started reading it and remembered your name from somewhere. I work at Red Cross and wonder it that's where I know you from. You may have applied to be a volunteer at one time. It's a great piece of writing. I'm not sure where you're going in life but just wanted to give you the feedback. You had quite an adventure.

Alekz, I just skimmed your page and want to commend and encourage you in your work. I am pleased to see the broad view you take and, although I am not fully in agreement with everything you've posted, I deeply respect your thoughtful consideration of the broad spectrum of inter-related concerns that our world faces.
I am much older than you and have worked for various social causes for a long time. I used to think I had answers, but have come to realize that much of what I worked toward will not be accomplished in my lifetime, nor, sadly, yours or that of my grandchildren. I have decided to focus most of my (limited) energy on global warming, believing that if we do not address that adequately, all other issues are moot. Focusing helps me to feel I may be seeing progress. Much of my encouragement in this area comes from fellow members of the Citizens' Climate Lobby and I recommend that organization to you.
Again, my main reason for writing is to encourage you to keep going. You are doing important things.
Namaste,
Karen

Hi Alekz, Hello! My name is Labris Willendorf and I'm a Santa Cruz local too. A friend told me about your work and I think what you do is not only awesome, but inspirational. My goal is to do more to help in the world and I am an adventurer myself. I walked some of the camino de Santiago in Spain last year as well as weeks of other solo travels. I love Santa Cruz but am called to see the world, too. I'm a writer and photographer as well. My travel has been for personal growth but I want to expand that into being a part of something larger that helps animals, the environment and people. I'm not sure if you're around Santa Cruz but I'd love to hear more about what you do if you'd be interested in telling me. Maybe we could grab a coffee or smoothie?
Thanks, Labris
Thanks, Labris

Its good to see youve made something of yourself. Nice write up in the GoodTimes. I see they left out "Sexual Deviant" in your list of accomplishments but I suppose that would deserve a cover article of its own. Front page of both the Santa Cruz rags is something in itself. All kidding aside its good to see your still living on the edge, pushing the envelope, and squeezing every drop of excitement out of life, helping a lot of folks in a very real way along the way. Hats off to you.

Hey Alex! I hope you are doing well. I think it's pretty incredible what you did in the Philippines. Really selfless and brave to just drop your life, hop on a plane and just start helping people. And now it looks like you're on a whole new adventure :-) Enjoy the ride and take care. SC will be here if you get home sick ;-)

Alekz Londos, a friend of mine based in the Santa Cruz area. Alekz is a kick ass guy, making a career of doing it right. Although he has a powerful message and delivers it well, he doesn't just talk about what needs to happen in the world. He goes to the front lines and does something about it. He leaves the relative safety of his home and travels to far flung locations the world over to the center of natural disasters, raging forest fires, the hot zone of the Ebola crises, hurricanes, typhoons, earthquakes. The list is lengthy. Independent of the established relief organizations, he can bypass the burdensome bureaucracies and corrupt middle men and bring the help to where the hurt is. The nature of the things he does and the things he's had to see and endure are beyond ones comprehension. He does it because he actually cares. The real deal, part of the solution, walking the walk, and bringing help, and compassion, to the victims he meets along the way. I cant believe this is the same punk kid I met some 15 years ago, but he's living up to his potential and more. I'm proud to call him my friend.

I work with Carla (at the collection agency) and she passed along the narrative you wrote about your experiences with Hurricane Katrina. That was a nice piece; well written and rather descriptive. The devastation was amazing and the suffering and anguish that set in afterward is really quite tragic. It is a shame that the media coverage quickly shifted from the drama of the storm and the impact of it's destruction to who is to blame for response times for assistance. As politicians waged a new war of politics and the usual bi-partisan bickering, the victims seemed to become unimportant as we became slowly immune to the stories of loss, sadness and despair. At first we all gasped in amazement, but eventually we simply changed the channel and watched sit- com reruns hoping to escape back to the 70's (That 70's Show) or watch the self-absorbed and rather desperate housewives as they depict the darkest sides of human nature.
It is admirable that, while most of us sat on the sidelines and in awe from a distance, you allowed the human spirit to prevail and became a part of the solution. It is a selfless act to leave safety, with few resources and virtually no plan, and travel a very long distance into danger and mayhem to visit the city, formerly known as New Orleans, and the Gulf region.
Certainly your actions are applaudable and triumph over those of us who stuffed dollars and coins into workplace collection containers and donated to charities (sponsored by Hollywood stars eager to show how much they care as Entertainment Tonight snaps another not-so-glamour-shot) easing, for a moment, our inability to help and substituting it in the least committing and most convenient way.
I am guilty of having too many obligations, in my mind (as my excuse?), to consider such courageous efforts as you. We have heard and will long hear of stories, that become legends over time, of those who dared to sacrifice in order to help. My children know of your story and kindness and my young daughter said, "he must be like Jesus". Interesting and touching that a 7 year old would see His example in that which you have done. Yet another compliment to you. I don't know you, but for many years to come I will likely recount the story of your experience and proudly profess that I know of you.
Thank you for your example.

Alekz Londos thank you, you have no idea how people with your skills, bravery and perspective are truly appreciated, especially in an age where mainstream news media is a sham. In your field, you have been exposed to the truth of the current state of global environmental affairs....most of us see and realize only a fraction of what you do. Please keep us updated through

I came across your info on a group called Democratic Socialist Party. While everything (almost) is about Bernie, and he does care so much about the environment, I came across your narration and it was captivating. I shared it twice as a wrote a little blurb and it did not come out on one. That's okay. If someone wants to read and listen to it twice. As an environmentalist and photojournalist I would imagine you have been all over and seen just about everything. I would imagine that much of what we do in the more "advanced (?) countries" makes you quite ill: our greed as you say, lack of respect and compassion by people and corporations, alterations of the biosphere, as you say, frequent and inappropriate disposal of cars, appliances, TVs, computers, many things. And OMG what we do to our oceans, rivers, lakes, streams, it just makes you sick, at least me. I guess I do my part by being a minimalist from not having much income or things, plus my philosophy is why be burdened with so much "stuff." Anyhow, thanks for writing. I will look over your material. I'm sure there are many others out there like you trying to save our planet. It looks pretty doomed, does it not? Are there any pristeen areas anywhere in this world? Which country would you say is the most responsible ecologically? I had a nice woods across the street from my condo. A few years back they put up stores there. The stores are all empty now and crumbling. It makes you sick. Such a wasteful society. I'm sorry I cannot contribute to your cause. I am a senior living alone, but I can pass along your info as often as I can and if you make any more videos I'll be glad to post them. Of course you yourself can do it, but I can try to promote them, too, I gladly would. I applaud your work. It made me so sad to hear many of your comments. Well, keep up the great work. Little by little it does/will make a difference. As my Mexican girlfriend says, "Poco a poco." I will definitely look at your "resource guide." Is is available in a book format? Probably not. I was going to see if I could get our library to add it to their collection. They frequently put items of interest on display. My God, good luck in your quest to improve our earth. How do you put up with so many of us idiots?? Keep on, Alekz Londos!!

I think it is funny people are so quick to criticize someone who has made it into national news, has had at least 8 personal interest stories written about him, has had success in making a film that caught the attention of todays society, and has lived his life on his terms and been successful with his choices. As someone who has crossed his path in Reno and Santa Cruz countless times, I can tell you he has the staying power that most don't. Stop being so judgemental about a person you have never met, who has less education but is becoming something of himself. If half of the world had his drive maybe our country wouldn't be in such a dismal state. This is a pretty shotty article written about an incredible artist and person. All those comments about how hes selfish or uninteresting are clearly from people who are completely ignorant to him and his work. its really sad how quick people are to judge, you have so little faith that this guy has anything to share. be slow to judge and quick to investigate why there is increasing interest in alex as an artist, he has the MOST incredible story to tell. its just a little difficult to dig up because hes not some celebrities son who has automatic status in our society. alex built himself up while many of his peers stayed stagnant. and now hes making a name for himself, so...yeah! there.
