HOW TO MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE
There are many people who want to make a positive difference in our world, though don't know where to start?
I feel most of this surrounds either personal challenges of an individual, lack of education or knowledge… or just complete ignorance and irresponsibly of the current environmental crisis we face. Though with the knowledge of the many choices and resources we have access [through awareness] we then realize that by taking action, volunteering, voting, undertaking forms of nonviolent activism, choosing where we spend our time, where we spend our money, the companies we support through the products that we buy…. together we can collectively change the direction of our global society and create a better world for future generations.
One of the basic ways that you can help is by "liking" trusted groups and non-profit organization’s pages. They send out useful and positive-educational-meaningful post that essentially helps influence either stronger morals, better health practices or encourages more eco-friendly product choices. In your spare time YOU can make a difference by individually inviting YOUR friends to "like" these pages. Here is how it works…..you just click on the links and invite your ENTIRE FRIEND LIST TO LIKE THESE PAGES!!! =) It will make the positive impact every time your friends are reading through their news feed and interact with what these groups and nonprofits post.

ENVIRONMENTAL AWARNESS IS CRUCIAL TO THE SURVIVAL OF THE HUMAN RACE
The environment can have a profound impact on the health of individuals. Where individuals live, work, learn, and play affects their behavior. The availability of healthy options provides increased possibilities for healthy living. Here is a compilation list of simple things you can change in your lifestyle, please try to incorperate some of these steps and address these issues with the people in your life.
Purchase eco friendly products, support the companies that will help establish a healthier society.
USE RECHARGABLE BATTERIES Each year 15 billion batteries produced and sold and most of them are disposable alkaline batteries. Only a fraction of those are recycled. Buy a charger and a few sets of rechargeable batteries. Although it requires an upfront investment, it is one that should pay off in no time. And on Christmas morning when all the stores are closed? You'll be fully stocked.
GIVE IT AWAY Before you throw something away, think about if someone else might need it. Either donate to a charitable organization or post it on a web site designed to connect people and things, such as Freecycle.org.
Stop letting your vehicle idle while your waiting for longer than a few minutes.
USE COTTON SWABS WITH A PAPERBOARD SPINDLE Some brands of cotton swabs have a paperboard spindle while others are made of plastic. If 10% of U.S. households switched to a paperboard spindle, the petroleum energy saved per year would be equivalent to over 150,000 gallons of gasoline. Pay attention to the packageing the corperations use to cover up being able to see if the spindle is paper or plastic.
PAY BILLS ONLINE By some estimates, if all households in the U.S. paid their bills online and received electronic statements instead of paper, we'd save 18.5 million trees every year, 2.2 billion tons of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases, and 1.7 billion pounds of solid waste.
Stop smoking cigarettes and if you dont atleast please stop littering your cigarette butts.
USE YOUR CRUISE CONTROL You paid for those extra buttons in your car, so put them to work! When using cruise control your vehicle could get up to 15% better mileage. Considering today's gasoline prices, this is a boon not only for the environment but your budget as well
Stop buying bottled water for a selfish single use. Buy a stainless steel container that will have many self benifits you will enjoy over a long period of time. I strongly believe bottled water has NO PLACE IN OUR SOCIETY ecluding providing water to people in the aftermath of a disaster.
Take showers together to conserve water ; )
CHOOSE MATCHES OVER LIGHTERS Most lighters are made out of plastic and filled with butane fuel, both petroleum products. Since most lighters are considered "disposable," over 1.5 billion end up in landfills each year. When choosing matches, pick cardboard over wood. Wood matches come from trees, whereas most cardboard matches are made from recycled paper.
USE ONE LESS PAPER NAPKIN During an average year, an American uses approximately 2,200 napkins—around six each day. If everyone in the U.S. used one less napkin a day, more than a billion pounds of napkins could be saved from landfills each year.
Try your best to buy organic, shop local or at least assure it was produced in the United States and not shipped from overseas.
STOP PAPER BANK STATEMENTS Some banks will pay you a dollar or donate money on your behalf when you cancel the monthly paper statements you get in the mail. If every household took advantage of online bank statements, the money saved could send more than seventeen thousand recent high school graduates to a public university for a year.
You can start a compost bin to limit the amount of organic materials that overwhelm our waste facilities.
MAINTAIN YOUR VEHICLE Not only are you extending the life of your vehicle, but you are creating less pollution and saving gas. A properly maintained vehicle, clean air filters, and inflated tires can greatly improve your vehicle's performance. And it might not hurt to clean out the trunk—all that extra weight could be costing you at the pump.
Stop buying products made from polymers and plastic, it is a waste by-product derived from oil (fossil fuel) that chemical composition is a variation of toxic organic and inorganic materials known to cause cancer and birth defects. Plastic is a major contributing problem to our world polution due to the length of time it takes to deteriorate.
Stop using plastic trash can linners just to carry your stupid trash from one trash can to another. It just creates more unnecessary trash!! Just carry the can and empty it out, its not that hard, I did it for over 5 years!!!
RECYCLE NEWSPAPER There are 63 million newspapers printed each day in the U.S. Of these, 44 million, or about 69%, of them will be thrown away. Recycling just the Sunday papers would save more than half a million trees every week.
Replace your light bulbs with qualified energy star bulbs, you will help the environment while saving money on your energy bill. They generate 75% less heat; uses about 75% less energy than standard lighting; and lasts from 10 to 50 times longer.
Reducing, reusing, and recycling in your home helps conserve energy and reduces pollution and greenhouse gas emissions from resource extraction, manufacturing, and disposal. If there is a recycling program in your community, recycle your newspapers, beverage containers, paper, and other goods. Also, composting your food and yard waste reduces the amount of garbage that you send to landfills and reduces greenhouse gas emissions
Each year the U.S. uses 84 billion plastic bags, a significant portion of the 500 billion used worldwide. They are not biodegradable, and are making their way into our oceans, and subsequently, the food chain. Stronger, reusable bags are an inexpensive and readily available option.
It takes lots of energy to pump, treat, and heat water, so saving water reduces greenhouse gas emissions. Saving water around the home is simple. Three percent of the nation's energy is used to pump and treat water so conserving water conserves energy that reduces greenhouse gas pollution. Reduce the amount of waste you generate and the water you consume whenever possible. Pursue simple water-saving actions such as not letting the water run while shaving or brushing teeth and save money while conserving water.
Do notr pre-heat your oven unless you are making bread or pastries of some sort, don't pre-heat the oven. Just turn it on when you put the dish in. Also, when checking on your food, look through the oven window instead of opening the door
By turning off your computer instead of leaving it in sleep mode, you can save 40 watt-hours per day. That adds up to 4 cents a day, or $14 per year. If you don't want to wait for your computer to start up, set it to turn on automatically a few minutes before you get to work, or boot up while you're pouring your morning cup 'o joe.
BATCH ERRANDS Feel like you spend your whole week trying to catch up with the errands? Take a few moments once a week to make a list of all the errands that need to get done, and see if you can batch them into one trip. Not only will you be saving gasoline, but you might find yourself with much better time-management skills.
Boycott Styrofoam!!! dont buy it, dont support it, dont use it!
